TOPICS COVERED

INTRODUCTION Membership begins with the gospel. Paul gave strong warnings about being right or wrong on the gospel. We will discuss how to become a Christian and why active local church membership is a major part of our faith. We will see how we symbolize salvation and sanctification in our two ordinances of immersion baptism and communion.

INTERDEPENDENCE We will see how we need the entire body to be active in the local church, in faithful attendance, giving and service. We need to be totally committed to love and building up one another and our church.

IDENTIFICATION We will learn the basic doctrines of being a member of a Baptist church. Those teachings unify us as a local church body and distinguish us from other churches and denominations. A close examination of Ephesians 4:1-16 will show us the source of our unity and the strength of our diversity through Christ.

INVOLVEMENT We will see specific ways to be involved at FBC Killeen. Some know what their spiritual gifts are, but there are other ways to serve through their talents, passions, experiences and other recognizable strengths in ministry.

INCORPORATION We will walk through the F.I.R.S.T. steps of being a member of First Baptist. That “Connect, Grow, Serve, Go” is more than just a catchy group of words that summarize our ministry. They are steps of progression in membership at FBC.

IMPROVEMENT We will discuss the basics of discipleship. We want our members to experience personal G.R.O.W.T.H. as disciples.
