Clarence R. Clements Adoption Ministry

When interviewed for the writing of "Clarence R. Clements, A Noble Man", Clarence was asked what, of all the deeds and accomplishments that he had experienced, had meant the most to him. Clarence replied that "dearest to his heart was placing 28 unwanted babies into loving homes." Several of those 28 adoptive families were members of First Baptist Church Killeen.Through his work with the Salvation Army, Clements would become aware of mothers-to-be that were unable to keep and care for their babies. He also, as a deacon and member of First Baptist Church, sought out willing couples who wanted to adopt children themselves.
One such couple was Troy and Juanita Faucett, members of the church and friends of the Clements. The Faucetts had expressed a desire to adopt a baby. At the time, their oldest daughter, Judy, was in college and they had also previously adopted Susan. Through divine guidance, Clarence Clements arranged the adoption of another baby for the Faucetts. And so it was that Mr. Clements hand-delivered a three-day old baby girl to the Faucetts in 1964. Jane (Faucett) St. John was put on the Sunday School roll of First Baptist Church Killeen at nine days old.
Through his ministry, twenty-eight unwanted babies were made wanted and twenty-eight unfulfilled couples were fulfilled. Clarence R. Clements' gift of carrying out his miraculous plans to promote God's love and build a better society has made a lasting impact on our church, our community, and His kingdom.
Dearest to his heart was placing twenty-eight unwanted babies into loving homes.
