For those already attending, our goal is to pray, asking, seeking and then knocking to invite someone we know back to church.
Since this call to action started in 2009, the National Back to Church Sunday movement has continued to gain momentum. More than 4 million Christ followers have participated through 30,000 churches! It is a day focused on uniting the church by equipping and empowering members to be inviters. Eight out of ten people say they are open to visiting church if invited—they are just waiting for an invitation.
For Back to Church Sunday, First Baptist Church Killeen will have a special service that features a place to belong in LifeGroups to learn more about the Bible, in worship services to grow in our relationship to God, and special ministry projects throughout our community, showing as well as telling our area that God loves them and has a place for them to belong as well.
The pastor of First Baptist Killeen, Dr. Randall Wallace, will bring a special message that Sunday to those coming back to church of how God wants us to belong to Him and to one another.
This theme, “A Place to Belong,” is relevant to the felt needs in today’s culture of people wanting to be a part of authentic community. The message is that peoples’ stories matter, and they can find a place to fit in and make a difference right in their own local church.
Participating churches believe that there has never been a better time than now for people to come back and get plugged in to a church that offers a place to belong, opportunities to serve the community, and the chance to grow spiritually through a journey of personal faith.
The Back to Church Sunday website includes a roster of participating churches and an interactive Facebook page provides insights and resources for participating churches.
